Medium: Charcoal Pencil
Description: In this drawing class we will use charcoal pencil on paper to draw simple objects such as apples, plaster cubes and spheres, also copying reproductions of master’s drawing. Each class will start with a brief explanation, observations of sample drawings followed by quick demonstration done in class by the instructor. Students will start working on their own drawing and the instructor will help students to implement and practice new skills.
Students learn to observe and break down complex subjects—from still life to the human figure—into fundamental geometric and organic forms to create realistic and volumetric drawings.

Skill Level: Beginning - intermediate artistic levels welcome! Minimum registration required for workshop to proceed.

About the Instructor: Born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, Lana now calls the San Francisco Bay Area home. Lana started her formal academic training at the early age in her homeland and later continued in North America receiving a MFA degree at the Academy of art university in San Francisco.
​
​For the last 20 years, Lana’s being exhibiting and teaching in the Bay Area. One of Lana’s most recent achievements is Best in Show Oil Painting Award from Mendocino Art Center received in August 2025. She also won the Best of show award in 2022 for oil painting “Alameda Sky” from Frank Bette Center of Arts Plein Air Paintout.
