Over the years, Flax has been a great supporter of Frank Bette Center for the Arts, especially our annual Plein Air Paintout event. It has provided valuable donations to the event over the years which are always greatly appreciated by the staff and participants. Needless to say, we are saddened to hear the announcement that it will be closing its Oakland store. We here at The Bette feel we are losing more than an art store. We are losing a friend. But fear not. In March 2026, their Oakland location will be consolidating with their San Francisco location. And their website will continue to be an invaluable resource for artists, art lovers, and gift givers. So we will still have access to the great products, service and support of Flax Art & Design.
