Opposition is something we are exposed to daily in the news. Opposing parties are both convinced they are right and have the evidence to prove it. In this show, we see opposites cooperating or coexisting in a real or implied harmony. For example, Sue Matthew’s “Aspen Glen” watercolor shows a stand of trees with white trunks mottled by black markings. That’s the way nature did it. It didn’t need to be hammered out in court. Charles Lucke shows a big photo of two kids, a boy and a girl, one black, one white. Delighted by each other’s’ presence, they are “New Friends”.
BZ Meyers shows a haunting photo of two “Chaises in the Mist,” ostensibly awaiting the return of the sun. Diametric weather is also implied in Fred Fago’s photo of “The End of Summer” where a picnic table sits stolidly waiting under a layer of thick snow. It doesn’t care if it’s the season for a cover of watermelon juice or snow because life goes on and a table is a table is a table.
