Main Gallery

Narrative art; remembrances; layers of myth and memories; images that bring depth to our sense of reality; images that connect us, entertain us and provide a framework for understanding our place in the world; way to pass on cultural traditions, express imagination, and change perspectives. Everyone has a story.

Different Dimensions

Beth Bourland and Barbara Buhrz

March 6–March 28, 2026

Reception: Saturday, March 14, 2026, 3–5 pm

Beth Bourland been a longtime participant at FBCA, exhibiting her art in prior solo shows, group shows and the FBCA Plein Air Paint-Out. She works in watercolor, from original source material and observations of scenes regionally or from her travels.

Barbara Buhrz has embarked on a project called “Dimensions,” in which she creates a sculpture in fired ceramics along with an accompanying painting that explores the same topic. Thus, the viewer encounters a 3-dimensional sculpture in clay PLUS a 2-dimensional interpretation in watercolor or illustration.  It is fascinating to see her visions side by side. Her subject might be abstract color patterns, imaginative creatures, personable people, or depictions of nature.

Barbara Buhrz creates ceramic sculptures, drawings and watercolor paintings. Beth Bourland works in watercolor and ink-&-wash. Their combined creativity spans two decades.   Both reside in Alameda.
