Class Description
This will be a two day, indoor workshop at the Frank Better Center for the Arts. This course is intended for artists with some previous experience painting and drawing from life. You may use oils or acrylics. Cleo will be doing her demos and mixing in water miscible oils. We will review the visible light spectrum, the basic color wheel, color temperature and compliments. Some of our exercises will include color mixing, matching and applying various “recipes” to simple compositions. Through minimizing our color choices, we will create naturally harmonious paintings. This process takes us away from mixing accurate color and towards unity within the piece, yet remaining true and representational to our impression of the subject. In many ways, it is easier to use fewer colors- as long as they are the right ones for the job! About the Instructor: Cleo has been working in art, specifically painting, for over 25 years. With degrees in marine biology and science illustration, she has worked on many large scale murals, illustrations and sculptures for natural science institutions. Her science background lends a unique perspective to her teaching approach, and there’s a lot of fun science in color! Currently, Cleo is primarily working as an outdoor painter and teacher in the Bay Area and beyond. She thrives on growth and cultivating growth in others, while forever a curious student herself. Cancellation Policy
Cancellation & Refund Policy Frank Bette Class or Workshop Cancellation and Refund Policy The instructor has the option of cancelling a class or workshop that does not meet the required minimum of enrolled students three (3) days prior to the start date. All fees for cancellations may be refunded. Registered students must notify the Frank Bette Center at least five (5) full days prior to the start of a class or workshop to effectively cancel registration and be eligible for a full refund. To cancel, email classes@frankbettecenter.org and the class or workshop instructor or call the Center: 510-523-6957. Students cancelling no less than three (3) full days prior to the workshop may receive a credit for a future workshop upon approval of the instructor. Credits are valid for up to six (6) months from the date of issue. Fees for cancellations made after the class or workshop start date and no-shows are charged the full amount. No credits are issued. Frank Bette Center for the Arts reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop. Registrants are notified by phone or email and may receive a full refund or a credit towards future workshop by the same instructor.
