Come have some fun painting in gorgeous Carmel! We will be painting in both picturesque Carmel and Pacific Grove for a 3 day plein air workshop. The Pacific Coast is a spectacular place to paint with rugged rocky shores, incredible white sand beaches and dunes, majestic cypress trees and jewel colored ocean waves. We will focus on ways to simplify your composition, how to capture the qualities and mood of the day, and color mixing strategies. Plein Air workshop in Costa Brava, Spain May 5-12, 2024 Ellen Howard Instructor
Come join me for an amazing week of plein air painting in Costa Brava, Spain! This trip is not to be missed! Costa Brava is a scenic stretch of Catalan coastline that runs from the north of Barcelona to the French border. We will have gorgeous views to paint of secluded rocky coves, cute medieval villages, stunning rugged landscapes, and incredible turquoise waters. It is also a place to enjoy delicious food and vibrant culture. French Escapade is a top notch workshop company with over 25 years of experience putting together incredible experiences for its artists. Price includes 7 days with beautiful accommodations, meals and all transportation to sites. We will have a representative from French Escape at every location to assist the instructor with logistics. We will be working in oils or gouache. We will focus on several key aspects: strengthening our observation skills by paying attention to details such as light, color, shapes, and textures present in the outdoor environment. Strengthening our composition by using the golden mean, leading lines and focal points. We will also practice ways to simplify a scene-only putting in the essence elements while leaving out unnecessary details and color mixing techniques.
