Making Paper Mache Birds: 2 Sessions
About the instructor: Nancy Overton is a graduate of Crafting 101. She has cast plaster, embroidered pictures, built furniture, heat transferred clothing, made fabric bows, mastered glue-gun construction. designed stuffed animals and made hundreds of paper mache birds. She has developed new products for gift companies, written craft articles and books and supervised art departments. She is a graduate of Califomia College of Arts and Crafts and feels fortunate to say that, one way or another, arts and crafts have provided a lull and wonderful life.

Description: Do you have a favorite feathered-friend. a bird you especially enjoy watching, a cute guy at the feeder, a hungry little Joe eating the lettuces you just planted? Make his likeness using wire and paper and set him on your coffee table to admire every day or make him as a gift for that very special person.
Patterns for eight different (most popular) birds will be supplied, or with a week's notice of the class, you can request a pattern of your favorite bird be designed especially for you.
Week One: we will use a paper pattern, floral wire and needle-nose pliers to build a three-dimensional bird body. We will cover it in paper using torn strips of newspaper and Elmer's School Glue. The paper mache may be finished at home.
Week Two: we will "feather" our birds in colored papers, sheet music and other ephemera you may bring from home.
This class guarantees you a totally new crafting experience and a one-of-a-kind, (hand-made by you) favorite feathered-friend.
