 Landscapes in Watercolor: 1 Session

Picture
Wendy Soneson
About the instructor: Wendy Soneson has been teaching watercolor at seven locations in the Bay Area for five years, and before that, for 30 years in Boston. She has been the John Singer Sargent guest artist at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, for the last seven years. Her approach is fine arts, as in a university setting, which in the end, she believes, adds much more to one’s life than just a hobby. .  Her last show locally was a one woman show at Oakland City Hall, 2019, with paintings of Oakland in Transition.

Title:   Landscapes in Watercolor: 1 Session

Instructor:  Wendy Soneson

Dates:  May 16

Day & Time:   Sunday, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Description:  Landscape painting is just as much fun, and more rewarding, indoors, working from excellent photos, than the romantic but less successful outdoor painting process. Most professional landscape painters work from photos when they can, so they can have controlled conditions and  put effort into perfecting the artistic elements of a good landscape painting: contrasts of values, opposite colors, textures, transitions and balance of elements. We will learn to incorporate all these into our work of art in this workshop.

In this workshop we will work on saturated paper, from a photo. The class will consist of pre class video, and then during class time, on zoom, a conversation with the group, then a demonstration. After final questions, I will follow up with students individually after they complete assignments.

Please watch these pre class mini lessons and I will be sending a video for you to watch before class.

Fee:  $40 Members; $50 Non-members

Materials: You may order art supplies from WatercolorWeekly (please no substitutes) or a $65 supply kit directly from Wendy at  Wendy.

Medium:   Watercolor

Notes:  Minimum registration required for workshop to proceed. Open to all artistic levels; 18 years and older.
