About the instructor: Art has always been a part of Colleen’s life paralleling her development as a person, through education, becoming an adult, raising children and her professional career. She has successfully merged them all somehow and has been addicted to education her entire life. She is honored to hold an MFA in painting from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Now with a business degree, a graphic design degree and an MFA, Colleen has all the knowledge and motivation she needed to pursue her fine art practice and teach and inspire students from around the globe.

Description: Different artistic tendencies or styles can be grouped in collective titles known as art movements. Throughout history, artists have produced art in a variety of media and styles following different philosophies and ideals. Students will learn how to compose, create and learn new art techniques by painting in the mindset of these different movements: Suprematism, Cubism, Fauvism, Dadaism, Harlem Renaissance, Pattern & Decoration, Pop Art and Post-Impressionism. The works of art you will explore in this course will serve as points of departure to incorporate new energy and knowledge into your own paintings!
