About the instructor: Art has always been a part of Colleen’s life paralleling her development as a person, through education, becoming an adult, raising children and her professional career. She has successfully merged them all somehow and has been addicted to education her entire life. She is honored to hold an MFA in painting from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Now with a business degree, a graphic design degree and an MFA, Colleen has all the knowledge and motivation she needed to pursue her fine art practice and teach and inspire students from around the globe.

Description: This course is an agglomeration (a collection of things) of the teachings of Gerhard Richter’s squeegee painting, pastillage reliefs of Yvette Mayorga, bird and flower Chinese brush paintings of Cui Ruzhuo, figurative flat shapes of Alex Katz, Miriam Shapiro’s fabric masterpieces, Julie Mehretu’s ink on vellum paper, painting and collage with Beatriz Milhazes and last but not least the marker comps of Joanne Greenbaum! We learn by doing and this course is a dabble in lots of different ways to create art! Embark on Mr. Toad’s wild ride and create lots of fun art all the while exploring your voice as an artist!
