Prose & Poetry schedule for march 2008
Saturday - March 8, 08
2nd Saturday Prose & Poetry Reading
Featured readers:
MARVIN R. HIEMSTRA, a Donald Justice student at the Iowa
Writers Workshop, publishes and presents his droll poetry and humor around
the world: the Carmel Performing Arts Festival to a three week triumph at
the Edinburgh Fringe. Marvin's quirky, FRENCH KISS DESTINY the DVD,
released in September 2007, has been a jubilant success around the United
States and Europe. Marvin lives with his mate, Lloyd Neilson -- Books Arts
Expert, and his cat, Brave Feather, on Bernal Heights: teaching Piano and
Performance Dynamics.
Eugene David (AKA David Eugene Partch) A refugee from the
Bay Area slice of our so-called 'civilization' and now living in the remote
Northern California neo-primitive village of Willits (as it likes to think
of itself). Poetry remains the link to a culture of the distant past and,
perhaps, the distant future in a modest attempt to persevere our own era of
hyperbolic destruction. Trying to keep even a weak thread of connection
alive in the story, hoping for a chance that the stanzas will keep coming.
And that someday the word 'alienation' will be ascribed to history.
