(If you can get most of the supplies on the materials list that would be great. This makes all the difference in the world when painting realism. When you have the right materials, learning how to paint is much easier.)
Open to all over 18 years of age May bring snack for break About the Workshop: This 1 day workshop will focus on still lives. If you are a beginner the still life will be simple, if you are more advanced we can create a still life that is more complicated. During the demo I talk about setting up the palate, different kinds of brush strokes, and even how to hold your brush. For the more advanced painter I will discuss composition, the play of light and dark, and how forms start from large and are gradually broken down to smaller and smaller parts. Also, for the more advanced, we can explore how the eye moves around the canvas, edges, and the theme or story which is the focus of the painting. I will also describe and demonstrate how to see the objects being painted, as they truly are, so that in the end they appear real and three dimensional. About the Instructor: Lissa studied art all over, but mainly in New York City at the Art Students League where she received several years of training in the Old Masters Style. She studied with an artist she considers to be the best artist and teacher around, David Leffel who taught her to paint, and in many ways how to teach. From a review of her work, “Her moving, sensitive pieces reflect a spiritual connection to her subjects; capturing light and dark in the most natural sense. Her work is in many private collections and is represented by several galleries.” Learn more about Lissa Friedman and view her artwork at Lissa Friedman Art. |
