This workshop will help beginners who have already been introduced to oils and now want to increase their skills and strengthen their ability to applying color and value in their compositions. I will introduce Classical painting principles as you prepare and draw simple compositions, mix primary and secondary colors and in two days, create 1-2 successful still-life paintings. Please bring the supplies to class which are listed in the drop down menu labeled *materials list About the Instructor: Elaine grew up with 12 siblings in Southern California where they spent weekends, year-round, at the beach and camped in the mountains during summer. It was there that she developed a love for coastal landscapes and an appreciation for the natural beauty of the Golden State. Born into a family of artists, she happily anticipated that her future would involve the arts as well. Elaine became a teacher and practiced art instruction as well as becoming steeped in the history of classical and contemporary painters. She continued to teach in the Bay area until she was able to pursue painting full time. Her oil painting work is inspired by the French Impressionists, the Early California Plein Air artists and contemporary painters who capture the light and atmosphere of California’s rich landscapes.
