Workshop Descriptions:

Workshop 1 - This session will introduce students to the various elements of a camera. We will cover camera terminology, the parts of a camera, the various types of cameras and the general theory of picture taking. Chris will also briefly talk about the four primary adjustments: Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO Speed and White Balance and how they work together while taking pictures.

Workshop 2 - Although not all cameras are specifically equipped to allow the user to manually adjust the shutter speed and/or aperture, the majority of digital cameras offer various modes which will adjust these values. Understanding the idea behind both the shutter speed and aperture adjustments will help to better use the various functions of the camera, and capture the image that is in your head with the camera. During this class we will cover the basics of adjusting the Aperture and Shutter Speed on your digital camera.

Workshop 3 - Have your indoor shots ever turned up yellowed, or have you tried to take a picture of a city skyline at night? Often these can be difficult images to capture with a digital camera. By better understanding the ideas behind your cameras white balance and ISO speeds, you can help tell the camera what it needs to do to take the picture you want.During this class we will cover the basics of adjusting the ISO Speed and White Balance on your digital camera.

Workshop 4 - Taking pictures of an event in action can be frustrating for you and the camera. Once you understand how the camera will behave under less-than-calm circumstances, it will be easier for you to take those critical pictures when you might not get a second chance. During this class Chris will create practical experiments that provide valuable repetition and allow students to test their ability to manipulate the adjustments on their digital cameras.

**Students attending Workshop 4 are recommended to already have a basic understanding of the various functions of a digital camera**

**Students are always encouraged to bring their camera and owners manual to each session they attend**
