Watercolor by Susan Lea Hackett
Spend the day painting with Susan and learn her unique approach to painting the figure in watercolor that includes a session with a live nude model. Class time will include lecture, demonstration, and supportive group critique. You will learn to handle the paint to create vibrant skin tones, and to paint the light in warm and cool colors as it falls upon the figure. Leave the class with several started paintings and with the skills you learn, you can complete them at home. Small class size allows for individual instruction, with each student working at his or her own speed.
Originally from Southern California, Susan earned a B.A .in Practice of Art at UC Berkeley, with an emphasis on painting. After working for several years as an artist’s model, she entered a career in geriatrics, teaching various arts to frail elders. She paints and draws working from live models and enjoys plein air watercolor work. Her artistic interests include collage, mixed media, photo transfers, textile painting, and artist’s books. She has received awards locally and nationally for her art quilts and teaches classes on quilt-making and textile art. Learn more about Susan
