Digital Storytelling – Ancestral Roots Image

Requirements:
Digital camera, preferably with video capabilities
Computer literate with ability to load files to genealogy program scanner
Simple retouching skills in Photoshop, Google, and/or Picasa
Interviewing skills

Class Description: Would you like to preserve your precious old family photos and create a family tree? Do you still have family elders who are full of intriguing tales of a colorful past? In this class, you will learn basic portrait photo/video techniques that will help you document and preserve your family history and cultural pride. Eventually, if you wish, you will be able to post this on your own website.

About the Instructor: Francesca is a digital photographer, director, producer, instructor, and historian. She has been a freelance photojournalist and documentary photographer for several years. Her multicultural portraits, photo essays, and independent film and video projects have been exhibited, televised and published in the Bay area, NYC, Europe and Africa. Her Master’s thesis on prominent Italian-American women leaders, including politicians and civic leaders was published in books and academic journals.
