Craft of Poetry All levels of experience are welcome; Beginners need not be shy to join this class. Dates:March 6,13,20,27, April 3,10 Fee: $165 Members $185 non-Members Class Description: May's fun energy and creative expertise will provide an interactive and supportive environment for the creatively curious poet. Elements of poetry will include sense imagery, metaphor, simile, sound, voice, line and stanza breaks, rhythm, and formal (but always fun and adventurous) poetic forms. May's democratic use of student and teacher prompts will inspire in-class writing and reading sessions. This class will get the creative juices flowing and help poets translate the everyday world they we live in into surprising combinations of words and images. About the instructor: May Garsson is a Bay area poet and artist. She has taught poetry privately and in group settings for the past five years. She has a degree from UC Berkeley in English Literature with a focus on poetry and has studied poetry at San Francisco State University. She has read and performed her poetry in many venues in California and Washington State and has produced and hosted poetry readings and writing salons. Her book, The Liberation of Barbie published by Trike Press, is available from the author.
