Susan Lea Hackett: Figure/Ground

June 1 – June 30, 2012

First Friday Gala Opening
Friday, June 1, from 7– 9 pm

Figure/Ground will explore the relationship between the human figure and landscape; two classic themes that have stayed with us throughout the history of art.  Susan will exhibit watercolor paintings on paper, art quilts, mixed media textiles, artists books and many other items that show the breadth of her practice since working with the Frank Bette Center.  Recent work, which has not been show before, will be included.

The  theme of figure/ground also speaks to the balance between positive and negative space, the figure and the picture plane, a problem Susan finds challenging.
