Susan Hall has had a long and varied career in arts. She graduated first in her class at the Art Academy of Michigan. After graduation, she worked for Walt Disney as an artist and freelancer for eight years. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to attend Rudolph Schaeffer Interior Design School, and then worked as an interior designer. She returned to illustrating and designing and has worked for Sunset Magazine and many Silicon Valley high-technology companies. She developed an outstanding reputation as a portrait artist working in the medium of pen and ink and pencil. Susan and her husband opened and operated The Victorian on Lytton, a Palo Alto bed and breakfast inn in a renovated Victorian house, for 20 years.

Susan has always had an abiding interest in decorative arts. Through many travels in Europe and extensive research, she developed an extensive library of pictures and books, many of which are out-of-print and hard to find. She has studied with many experts from London and the East and West Coasts. She has taught classes on decorative arts at private studios.

In 1995, Susan opened the Susan Hall Studio to dedicate herself to creating original masterpieces based on classic techniques, specializing in murals and custom-designed wallpaper. Susan has worked extensively in higher-value homes in San Francisco and Silicon Valley and has many repeat clients.

Recently, Susan added plein aire painting to her repertoire and has been concentrating on plein aire and portrait/figure painting ever since. She won an award in the first plein aire competition she entered and has won several since. Susan has exhibited her work in several shows and galleries.
