Suzanne Yee

Art of the Human Body

The human body is my starting point, whether it's a portrait, a figure in an imaginary landscape, or a luminous x-ray view of bones. I aim for clarity and craftsmanship, clean shapes well drawn, and beautiful color.

In the portraits, I work from a combination of live sittings and photo reference. I mostly ignore furniture and background—rather, I look for a poetic pose and dramatic lighting. If you have a playful spirit and want an “informal” portrait, I would love to work with you.

Realistic drawing keeps me honest. Paintings are where I experiment. I’m not a master yet, but I am committed to practice, to learning, and to reaching for the beautiful idea.
