Alameda Poetry Writers' Workshop
Mary Loughran, member of Alameda Island Poets and Frank Bette Center for the Arts in Alameda, frequents poetry series and open mics in the East Bay; has award winning poems published in several anthologies and read at the Dancing Poetry Festival in the Legion of Honor Museum, San Francisco. Mary says, "I do not sing as well as I write. If I were a really good singer, I might not be a writer. I am in love with the sound and power of words to affect, touch deeply, and suggest new directions. Songs do this. Poems do this."
